When Should I Book?
It’s best to reach out in advance, both because I take sessions on a very limited basis, and as I tend to book out by at least a month, especially during the fall season. Micro sessions can typically be fit in sooner. When Will Our Shoot Be?
Portrait sessions are booked weekdays only during wedding season, though I am usually flexible for weekends during January-March. Sessions typically take place during sunset, when we get that soft, golden lighting, though early mornings can work well for this too. For group headshots, we can sometimes arrange a time a bit later in the morning or earlier in the afternoon, we just generally want to avoid midday as much as possible. Do You Have A Studio?
I do not have a studio. I'm a lifestyle portrait photographer, meaning I take headshots on-location either outside or within client homes & offices. What Should I Wear?
I'm a firm believer that there's no "wrong" thing to wear, however this is going to vary greatly depending on your line of work and what you're looking to communicate with your portrait. For example, a well-fitted blazer is going to have a different effect than a blazer that's a little too big and boxy. And as a rule of thumb, I usually advise against very busy patterns in most cases, but that's also not to say that you couldn't wear something bold and colorful if that made sense for your creative field. Regardless, I'm always happy to help with styling to ensure we're communicating your desired tone to your audience. Do You Take Group & Company Photos?
Yes, we can definitely arrange a group session of headshots, whether that's a group of fellow students or a company staff. There's a few different ways we can go about this — either utilizing an outside location, such as the outside of an office or college building, or we can also shoot inside of the building if we have a lobby or office room with some windows. For outside photos, I generally recommend before 10 am or after 3pm to avoid midday sun, though we can be more flexible for midday photos if we're shooting inside. Pricing will vary depending on number of participants, contact for a custom quote. Will You Travel For the Micro or Mini Package?
These sessions are a great price, but they're only able to be priced as such because they're local to my region. But you're welcome to travel to me! My 60 minute session includes a 40 mile radius by default, and has the ability to be extended as well. Group sessions receive custom quotes to accommodate both number of participants and distance. What If I Don't Like How I Look In Photos?
Getting your photos taken is such a sensitive and scary process, and sometimes we can get caught off guard because many of us are not used to seeing ourselves through someone else's eyes. It's important to remember that this is exactly how everyone else feels as well, even those who we might consider to be "flawless" — they get uncomfortable looking at themselves too, just like you. But what's most important to remember is that this is also how your favorite people in the world see you, and so when you're picking apart every little issue that feels glaring to you, they're seeing something totally different. We have to remember that our loved ones see us at every single angle possible, while we only get to see ourselves at one. So when they tell you how wonderful you look in your photos, remember — they actually know way more about your appearance than you know yourself, so you can trust that they know what they're talking about. Can I Use These Photos Commercially?
Yes, these sessions include limited commercial use. This includes: business cards, company website, profile photos, job resumes, organic social media posts. Things that may require additional licensing are as follows: billboards, publications, sellable products, or other non-local advertising, particularly national or international. |
