Product/menu photography packages begin at $1000
Full branding photography packages begin at $2000 As a photographer who's married to a marketing specialist, there's one business aspect that my husband and I notice gets overlooked at least 80% of the time. Whether it's via his own clientele or while we're exploring around Connecticut together, time and time again we see this asset be severely under-utilized:

When Should I Book?
It’s best to reach out in advance, both because I take new clients on a very limited basis, and as I tend to book out by at least a month, especially during the fall season. When Will Our Shoot Be?
Sessions are booked weekdays only during wedding season, though I am usually flexible for weekends during January-March. That said, I generally advise a day that will be slowest for you so that we can avoid disturbing your customers as much as possible, or to even shoot on a day that you're closed. If we're planning on utilizing a lot of window light, we'll want to work during the daytime, generally between 10am and 3pm in the winter, but this can be extended earlier&later during the summer when the days are longer. Do You Have A Studio?
I do not have a studio. I'm a lifestyle photographer, meaning I shoot on-location either outside or within client homes & businesses. What Info Do You Need From Me For A Quote?
Before reaching out, it's best to do a little brainstorming to determine what your main priorities are to get out of this shoot. Are you looking to get just a selection of your top products photographed, or are you looking to get your full inventory captured? Do you think you'd like headshots to tell your story and make your brand feel more personal? Do you want action shots of yourself and your employees working and creating these products? Having a good idea of the results you want is very helpful for me, so that I can smoothly get straight to planning with you! What Do You Need From Me The Day Of The Shoot?
Organization is the key to a successful session and ensuring that we can smoothly capture everything you'd had in mind. Have a checklist of your desired points of coverage & especially a checklist of your inventory/menu items to be shot. Tidy up before our session and get rid of anything that you wouldn't want to possibly appear in the background of photos. If you're going to be cooking a lot of dishes, make sure to do as much prep work as can possibly be done in advance, to make your life easier the day of. That way you're fitting in as many dishes as possible! Additionally, and we will likely discuss this in advance, but we will need a table(s) or space planned to be where I will set up in order to do product/menu photography. Can You Help Me Style My Products?
Yes, I'm always happy to help consult on your styling goals. We'll talk about your color palette, the desired mood you're going for, and what type of backdrop we want to utilize, whether that's the natural environment of your interior or a faux backdrop. Part of mood is impacted by lighting, so we may also discuss if you want to utilize the refreshing daylight from your windows, or if you're looking for the dramatic contrast of flash. I have a couple of backdrops and props in stock, but we can also factor in the cost if you'd like me to curate and order specific props. Can I Get A Few Other Things Captured During My Product Session?
My rates for a product-only session are different from a session with multiple different subjects, as they require different techniques and treatment, so requests for other subject matter beyond the product photography on the day of the session will add an additional fee to the remaining balance. I would always advise to book a full branding session if you think you will want more than only product photos. What Commercial Use Is Included?
These sessions include local commercial use. This includes: business cards, business website, menus, organic social media feed posts, locally-targeted online ads, local mailers (flyer in the mail). Things that may require additional licensing are as follows: billboards, publications/articles, printed on sellable products, or non-local advertising, particularly national or international. If you're unsure, please ask. I Don't Want to Waste Food. Can I Have You Photograph Customer Orders?
I fully understand the desire to be as resourceful as possible, but this isn't necessarily something I would recommend doing for a few reasons. First, at the very least, we'll want to get your most important dishes photographed — but there's no guarantee what customers will order, so this could result in me spending time photographing less important dishes. It may also result in me standing around twiddling my thumbs while we wait for a new order to come in, so again, this is wasting time that you've made a precious investment in. And finally, this may result in an uncomfortable experience for your customers. Naturally, they expect to be receiving their order fresh and ready for the kitchen — it would be a bit unappetizing to have their plate handed off to me to be touched and moved around for several minutes before they receive it. Instead, I would recommend making a little party of it if you don't want the food wasted. Maybe invite some of your family & friends to sit at a table off to the side where they can hang out and enjoy the free samples! And as far as storefronts, the same rule applies. If you want customers in images, you don't want to utilize real customers, as this will be uncomfortable for them and we technically need waivers. Invite some friends or hire models! |
