When Should I Book?
It’s best to reach out in advance, both because I take sessions on a very limited basis, and as I tend to book out by at least a month, especially during the fall season. We may also need this time to plan your outfits. When Will Our Shoot Be?
Portrait sessions are booked weekdays only during wedding season, though I am usually flexible for weekends during January-March. Sessions take place during sunset, when we get that soft, golden lighting. Sunset time varies between 3pm-7:30pm throughout the year. What Should I Wear?
All sessions include guided styling. Using your base preferences as inspiration, I can personally track down pieces for you to build something special. Though we may also utilize things from your own closet, it may be beneficial to leave a little wiggle room in your budget just in case, as you might find you may want something new if you're trying to achieve a specific look. Just as quality paint and canvas are important to a painting, so too are clothing, accessories, and scenery to our portraits. Where Should We Shoot?
I'm based in Coventry CT and portrait packages come with 20-40 miles included. I have many locations all around the state that I can recommend for us, from beaches, to forests, to fields and more. Most of these spots tend to revolve around nature. Forgotten meadows or secluded rocky peaks, abandoned buildings; special places that give us the beauty and solitude needed to create such intimate photos. I can also offer these in more urban locations as well, like a parking garage rooftop! How Many Outfits Can I Do?
It's important to consider that the number of outfits you decide to do will somewhat influence the variety in your gallery. I've found that we can fit up to 2 outfits in a 30 minute session and up to 3 outfits in an hour. That said, the amount of time it takes to change can take away from creative session time, so it's always good to book a longer session to accommodate more elaborate outfit changes. How Much Time Should I Book?
Choosing which session is right for you will depend mostly on how artsy you want to get with your photos. Consider that it can take a little bit of time to warm up to the camera for more elaborate poses. If you're looking for something with classic poses and a simple outfit change, a 30 minute session may be enough for your needs. If you're looking to get more dynamic with both classic shots and more artistic concepts, we'll want to do a longer session so that we have the extra time to experiment. What If I Don't Like How I Look In Photos?
Getting your photos taken is such a sensitive and scary process, and sometimes we can get caught off guard because many of us are not used to seeing ourselves through someone else's eyes. It's important to remember that this is exactly how everyone else feels too, even those who we might consider to be "flawless" — they get uncomfortable looking at themselves too, just like you. But what's most important to remember is that this is also how your favorite people in the world see you, and so when you're picking apart every little issue that feels glaring to you, they're seeing something totally different. We have to remember that our loved ones see us at every single angle possible, while we only get to see ourselves at one. So when they tell you how wonderful you look in your photos, remember — they actually know way more about your appearance than you know yourself, so you can trust that they know what they're talking about. |
