New season, new projects!
For anyone who follows me on instagram (@morgan_ofsharick) you may have some idea of the projects that I've been working on throughout the summer. One of them has been the series of landscape watercolors, which are all uploaded to the site and for sale. There are even a couple new time-lapse videos, so check those out! These were immensely helpful in disciplining my watercolor skills further, as I've never worked on cold-press paper before. Insight: As someone who often had trouble with being obsessively tidy with my work, the rough surface really forced me to let go of my usual neatness and challenged me to fight with the pigments, as they often bled and broke down in places that I hadn't initially intended. Overall I learned to instead value the interesting patterns that occurred from the "accidents" and eventually learned to use them to the landscapes' advantage. I decided to also go a step further with the series, aside from simply selling the originals. I've sent out for a test print, after which I will begin selling all 16 landscapes as a set of 2x3" miniatures, which will be added to the store very soon. The other project I'm working on pertains to birthstones. I've been experimenting with a couple of different selling ideas, the most simple one being to sell individual prints. The details of this project are still being worked out, as I still have six more birthstones to watercolor at this point. I've always held an extreme obsession with the concept of birthstones, dating back to as young as 3 years old, when I had them memorized and would ask random people their birthday so that I could properly inform them of their birthstone. If you have a love for either tiny watercolor landscapes or for birthstones, keep an eye out!
